Here’s where I don’t understand the “let’s arm our schools” argument.
There’s this paranoia that the government is going to take away all guns, and then we’ll turn into a dictatorship.
But the same people who believe that also believe that putting government agents in schools with guns is a step away from dictatorial control somehow?

So the 2010 elections were supposed to be all about jobs and the economy .. but after those elections what kind of legislation do we actually get? Abortions, gay marriage, English as an official language, banning Sharia Law, stripping union rights .. all this stuff is not about jobs and the economy, but it is about capitalizing on how afraid people are in a bad economy. It’s about telling Americans that other Americans are the enemy. It’s about splitting people up. It makes political sense, but it’s REALLY bad for the country.

Republicans don’t care if it’s bad for the country, as long as it makes political sense.
(via reagan-was-a-horrible-president)
And let’s not forget the irony of them trying to ban Sharia Law on the basis of not wanting someone else’s religion to dictate how they live their lives.

The best recap of the Republican National Convention you will see.
Since 1977, there have been over 59,000 acts of violence at U.S. abortion clinics, including 7 murders, 41 bombings, 343 death threats, and 942 acts of vandalism.
I’m sorry, you’re pro what, again?

If the Democrats said we had a war on caterpillars and every mainstream media outlet talked about the fact that Republicans have a war on caterpillars, then we’d have problems with caterpillars.
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, quoted by Bloomberg TV, insisting that the GOP’s “war on women” is fiction.
How can fight that logic? By using an example of something that is not happening, you disprove something that is happening.

Illinois Rep. Bobby Rush took the symbol of the Trayvon Martin protests from the street to the Capitol on Wednesday, getting ejected from the House floor for wearing a hoodie.
Rep. Bobby Rush has been a Member of Congress since 1993.
He was ejected due to the “no hats” part of the Congressional dress code (although the dress code is only enforced sporadically). Oddly enough, the debate on hats in Congress was brought up just a couple months ago by Florida Congresswoman Frederica Wilson.

“There are people who were gay and lived the gay lifestyle and aren’t anymore. I don’t know if that’s the similar situation or that’s the case for anyone that’s black. It’s a behavioral issue as opposed to a color of the skin issue, and that’s the diff for serving in the military.”—

When I read this, I thought to myself, “Even Rick Santorum isn’t stupid enough to say this.”
I was wrong. He said it on Fox News Sunday on October 9, 2011. Here’s a page with the actual video (Rick starts getting his ass handed to him at 2:30, this quote is at 4:25).
