While I’m sad about the deaths of the Navy SEALS yesterday, you guys know that soldiers are dying over there all the time, right? This wasn’t an isolated incident. It happens almost daily. This one made the news because it’s the division that got Osama bin Laden.
Everyone says show sad they are about Seal Team 6. But I have yet to see someone say how sad they are for the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. They had two soldiers killed on the 4th. I haven’t seen anyone say that they feel bad for Juliet Company, 42 Commando Royal Marines, who lost three British soldiers in an IED attack on the 5th.
I do feel bad for all of them.
But you know who I feel worse for? Roberto Lopez, a guy who was shot in a back yard in North Hills, CA. Or Christopher James Barrow, an 18 year old kid who was walking to the bus stop in New Orleans when he was hit by a drunk driver. Or Amy R. White, who was beaten to death by her husband in Chesterfield County, VA.
As sad as the deaths of soldiers are, they signed up to go to war. These other people I listed didn’t sign up for anything; they were just trying to live their lives and had it snuffed out. They don’t get the recognition because nobody really gives a shit. We just pretend to care about the ones that make the news reports so that we don’t look like the heartless heathens we really are.
