It seems that the Republicans at Fox “News” think you aren’t poor unless you are homeless.

Jesus Christ, you have to not have a fridge and running water and shit in a bucket in order for Fox News to consider you poor? Every rental property in the damn country comes with a fridge! Hell, if you live in a hotel room a lot of them have little fridges. I don’t understand why people in this country feel the need to demonize the working poor. Oh wait, they don’t understand that the working poor actually exist. They think everyone who lives below the poverty line is just sitting around collecting welfare and food stamps and living high on the hog with their refrigerators and their flushable toilets. This is the same shit when they list all the junk food you can buy with SNAP money. Yeah, you could buy a $4 bag of chips with your food stamps but since you’ve got about $30 to feed yourself for the week it wouldn’t be a very wise purchase.

Legitimately thought this was fake, not because I thought that Fox News would claim that people aren’t poor because they have the basic necessities of first world living. No, I’m not terribly surprised. I didn’t think it was fake because they put quotes around poor, implying that people are not really poor.
I thought it was fake because I really didn’t think they would use that font.

And yet I can just imagine the Fox viewers when this aired…”The nerve of those people wanting handouts. Refrigerators ain’t cheap. If they can afford that, they can afford to use venture capitalism to get rich at the expense of other people. But those people have refrigerators too, so screw ‘em.”
But if you think this is bad, let’s look at more of what Fox shared when this aired last year.
81.4% of poor people have a microwave. Jeez, they want to cook their food too? What a bunch of wusses, amirite? Especially when you consider that 78.3% have an air conditioner. Shouldn’t they ditch the microwave and the air conditioning and just let the food cook in the natural heat in this heat wave which has nothing to do with global warming whatsoever?
Why can’t poor people be homeless and have leprosy like the good old days?
