I’ve been wondering this for years. Billions of dollars are spent on election campaigns. That money could be put to so much better use. Especially in the age of the internet and instant information, it seems stupid that campaigns feel the need to spend so much money. In many cases, the same person dropping $5,000/plate to eat with a candidate will scoff at a homeless person for whom that amount of money could be a fresh start on life.
