Pics and videos are what tumblr is all about, along with posts that have no prayer of fitting in Twitter, much like this post. I love tumblr as an accessory to Twitter. I post deep stuff about myself here, and sometimes it includes pics or videos that help explain who I am to my twitter followers who are either kind enough to follow me here as well, or just kind enough to click on the link in the twitter post.

For stuff that I think is not for my average follower here or on twitter, I post the heavy stuff on http://un1k3n.blogspot.com/. I don’t post there too often, but when I do it’s the stuff that may alienate some of my followers here and on twitter.

But back to the point, tumblr without pictures wouldn’t be tumblr. This is where we can share things like that without worrying about too many links from twitter (yes, I know new twitter is better with pics and vids and stuff, but I’m just not used to it yet — even when a compatible pic/vid shows up on my timeline, I still click the link to see it where it was posted).

Done it twice, and it didn’t work. At the same time, I know that neither girl was the right one for me to settle down with. Maybe it could work if it’s the right couple.

That being said, though, it is REALLY hard to pull off, even when things are good. It’s hard to love someone that you can’t hold, can’t spend time with. All you can do is call each other, email, chat online, maybe send photos now and again. You can’t go out and enjoy a movie together, you can’t go out to dinner, you can’t just cuddle on the couch and watch TV.

Maybe, for some, a long-distance relationship can work. If you’re in one, I wish you luck.

OK, after testing posts, the videos I posted of Jon Stewart interviewing Barack Obama didn’t show up as full videos (at least on my computer and browser). I did get a narrow black line [edit — if you look at hem on my page, http://un1k3n.tumblr.com, the videos show up OK, but not on my dashboard. They may show up on yours]. If you click on that line, you get the audio of those videos, which is still worth listening to, even if you can’t see facial expressions. And based on this interview, I think every president should have to give an interview with an at-least semi-hostile interviewer once per year. And I didn’t see Stewart as hostile, but he did ask tough questions, unlike “real” news. We NEED this.
